Gunmen Abduct Traditional Ruler, Kill One Other in Kogi 

Unknown gunmen have abducted a traditional ruler, Pa David Obadofin of Aghara in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The gunmen who attacked the house of the traditional ruler on Monday, killed one Madam Toyin Onare and also abducted another person identified as Temidayo.

It was gathered that Chief Obadofin, a major Cashew farmer, and one of his boys were seated in front of his house taking the air, when the gunmen invaded the area with gunshots.

The incidence has thrown thr village into confusion. Madam Onare, a widow who had gone to lend a hand on the farm was caught by a stray bullet.

Promptly, the gunmen whisked the traditional ruler and Temidayo, another farm hand to the bush, abandoning the poor widow in a pool of blood. One person however escaped to tell the story.

The woman was rushed to the hospital in Kabba where she was confirmed dead.

UPDATE:

The abductors of Chief David Obadofin, the traditional ruler of Aghara community in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State have reached out and made contacts with his family.

 

This is even as more facts have emerged about the operation in which Obadofin was abducted during which one person was also killed.

 

A source confirmed that the kidnappers have made calls to the family. In their first call, they affirmed that the victims are fine in their custody.

 

Chief Obadofin, it was gathered, was subsequently allowed to speak.

 

He was quoted as saying that the kidnappers holding him and and one other person captive have given them roasted yam to eat.

 

When asked about their location, he allegedly said he didn’t know. He added that they trekked throughout the night after their abduction and were seated somewhere in the jungle at the time of the call.

 

The bandits reportedly asked the family to choose between having them (i.e criminals) arrested or the release of the victims. They then warned against getting law enforcement agents involved in the matter

 

There was however uncertainty about whether the hoodlums have set the price for freedom of the victims.

 

A source claimed that in their next call, the gunmen demanded for payment of N60 million as ransom.

 

But another source in Aghara said the kidnappers have not set a definite monetary demand to release their victims
