FUL Matriculates 7,571 Students

The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) on Monday matriculated no fewer than 7,571 new students into the different degree programmes offered by the academic institution.

The event attended by dignitaries and parents marked the 13th matriculation of the university.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, warned the newly admitted students against participation in cultism and other vices during their stay in the university.

“My dear matriculating students, to be awarded a degree by this iniversity, you must be found worthy in learning and in character. Academic excellence without good conduct is not sufficient.

“This is why I urge you to shun all forms of social vices such as cultism, indecent dressing, examination malpractices, sexual misbehavior, drug abuse, and any form of antisocial behavior that can mar or jeopardize your future.

“Let me be clear, this university has zero tolerance for laziness, academic misconduct, or deviant behaviours.

“Any student who fails to live up to the expectations of academic diligence and discipline will be shown the way out. I say this not to scare you, but to prepare your minds for the serious business ahead,” the VC said.

Akinwumi asked the students to count themselves lucky to have been selected among numerous applicants who applied to the university.

“You are indeed among the privileged few selected from a large pool of applicants who aspired to study in this esteemed institution.

“Your admission is not a matter of chance but a reflection of your hard work and commitment. This remarkable achievement is worth celebrating, and we are proud to welcome you into the Federal University Lokoja family.

“Today is a day of celebration, and I join your families and well-wishers to rejoice with you. I am pleased to announce that a total of 7,571 bright and promising students have joined our university community this academic session,” he said.
