The lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke, has supported the security architecture of Kogi State by donating a high-tech Hilux patrol van to the newly commissioned Smart Police Divisional Headquarters in Ekinrin-Adde, Kogi West.
Speaking with journalists on Sunday, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, conveyed the appreciation of Governor Ahmed Ododo to the federal lawmaker.
He stated that Faleke has exemplified a commitment to prioritising security over politics and the well-being of the people over personal ambition.
“The Government of Kogi State wishes to re-echo the open commendation earlier given by His Excellency during the commissioning of the Smart Police Divisional Headquarters.
“As a government, we appreciate the demonstrative contribution of Hon. James Faleke to the security architecture and infrastructure of the state. This is how to lead the people—by placing security above politics and patriotism above self-interest”, Fawo said.
Fanwo added that Faleke has played key behind-the-scenes roles in intelligence, logistics, and coordination with security agencies. He noted that the lawmaker has worked quietly but effectively with the state government to ensure the safety of lives and property across Kogi State.
The commissioner expressed confidence that Faleke’s latest intervention would significantly enhance security not only in Ijumu but across Okunland, Kogi West, and the entire state.
“This is one intervention that we are confident will improve security in Ijumu, Okunland, Kogi West, and the entire state. This is how to make an impact—through meaningful contributions, not by playing to the gallery. What the people need are concrete actions that can save lives, not selfish arrangements driven by personal interests”, he added.
He emphasised that the public can discern who is genuinely working for their safety and who is merely playing politics with their lives.
“The people know those who are truly collaborating with the state government to achieve lasting peace in Kogi. They also know those who are using security issues as a political tool”, he continued.
The government urged other political and business leaders from Kogi to emulate Faleke’s sense of responsibility and selfless service.
“Hon. James Faleke has set an example for others to follow. He has shown that the lives of his people matter to him. His actions are not motivated by personal gain or business interests, but by a desire to protect the people of Kogi,” Fanwo added..
Fanwo also revealed that the government is closely monitoring the activities of illegal miners and their collaborators, warning that any attempt to undermine state security through economic sabotage will attract serious consequences.
“We are aware of the activities of illegal miners and their enablers. Let it be known that the state will not tolerate actions that jeopardise the safety of our people. We are taking bold steps to ensure that criminal actors do not disrupt the peace we are working hard to achieve.”
The Kogi State Government reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with patriotic stakeholders like Faleke, in its mission to secure every part of the state and preserve recent gains in law enforcement and public safety.
