Court Issues Public Summons Against Yahaya Bello

Yahaya Bello

Justice Maryanne Anenih of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has issued a public summons requiring former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello to appear in court to address a new 16-count allegation against him.

The court date is October 24, when Bello will be arraigned alongside two other defendants.

The public summons was ordered following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which stated that it had been unsuccessful in serving Bello with the charges filed on September 24.

The accusations involve a criminal breach of trust totalling N110.4 billion, with the other defendants being Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu.

Justice Anenih directed the EFCC to publish the notice in a widely circulated newspaper to ensure the summons reached Bello.

Additionally, copies of the summons will be posted at Bello’s last known address and displayed prominently within the court premises.
