The 1995 set of Bishop Delisle College Old Students Association, BIDOSA ‘95, has announced the activities lined up for its first reunion after 26 years of graduation from the secondary school in Lokoja, Kogi State.
A statement containing the announcement was made available to the press by the media sub-committee for the reunion, and signed by the Chairman Central Planning Committee, Mr. Kabirudeen Tiamiyu.
According to the statement, the epoch-making event meant to bring together Class of BDC ’95 students from different parts of the country, is scheduled to be held from Friday, July 16 to Sunday, July 18, 2021.
“The Bishop Delisle Old Students Association, BIDOSA ‘95, has concluded plans for a reunion of all the Set 95 students of Bishop Delisle College, BDC, Lokoja, from July 16 to July 18, 2021.
“On Friday morning, we will converge at the premises of BDC, our alma mater. Talks will be presented on ‘Discipline, Moral Conduct and Academic Excellence’, by our own Mrs. Comfort Alemayo-Obaromi, a lecturer in Kogi State Polytechnic (KSP) and Mr. Lawal James, Chairman of the newly inaugurated Kogi State Youth Development Commission, on the Assembly Ground with the students as part of the Home Coming. Same day a special prayer will be held at the Kutepa Mosque Opposite St. Mary Primary School by our Muslim faithfuls at 2pm.
“On Saturday, there will be a Novelty Football Match between our set and BIDOSA ’94 at the BDC football field in the morning. This is to be followed by a Congress during which substantive officials will be elected for BIDOSA 95 after the dissolution of the interim Exco. The reunion party, billed to take place at Wisdom Plaza, near Kogi Circle Roundabout, Lokoja, comes up later in the day by 3pm.
“The three-day event will be rounded off on Sunday with a thanksgiving service/mass at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cathedral beside BDC Lokoja by 8am.
“This is going to be our first physical reunion since we graduated 26 years ago, after operating as a forum/group online via the social media platforms for almost ten years.
“The reunion was initially planned to hold last year to celebrate the 25th anniversary (Silver Jubilee) of our graduation from BDC but had to be put off due to the eruption of the deadly global pandemic of COVID-19 that held the entire world hostage. That is why we have tagged it ‘BIDOSA 95 Twenty-fifth Anniversary Plus One’. We intend to use the reunion to chart a new course for BIDOSA ‘95 and reposition it for better contribution to our alma mater and national development,” Tiamiyu said in the statement.
Eminent personalities expected to grace the reunion event include: Catholic Bishop of Lokoja Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Martin Olorunmolu, Member representing Igalamela-Odolu Constituency in Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Cosmos Atabor (BDC Set 93 Head Boy), Executive Chairman, Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon.
