Following weeks of controversies over the citing of the proposed psychiatric hospital in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has finally reacted to some of the questions posed by her constituents.
Speaking during her homecoming tour on Saturday ahead of the 2027 general elections, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan who facilitated the project, disclosed that the project was included in the 2026 budget but yet to be awarded.
“Many of you were surprised that you did not see me mention that or raised on the floor. There are different ways a Senator can attract project to her or his constituency. One of the ways is to raise it as a bill on the floor. If you have a good relationship with the ministry, you can actually skip that and go right and initiate that into the budget.
“So as I’m speaking to you, the mental health and rehab facility for Kogi Central is actually in the 2026 budget and we are hoping it will be awarded next week. If it is awarded next week, we are going to break the grounds in Adavi by God’s grace,” she said.
The lawmaker said she chose Adavi because she had already built markets and other projects in other local government areas in the senatorial district.
“For some of you asking for Ajaokuta, we facilitated the five LNGs which a number of them are already employing. And of course you’ve seen the efforts we’ve tried to make on Ajaokuta Steel Company, but unfortunately we experienced some setbacks from the Minister and other angles,” she added.
The Senator canvassing for support from her constituents, said if voted, she will return to the Senate as a ranking Senator to attract more for the Kogi Central Senatorial District.
