Former U.S. Vice-President Mike Pence will launch his campaign for the Republican nomination for president ahead of the 2024 election next week in Iowa.
According to a report by the Associated Press, Mr Pence’s event will kick off on June 7, his 64th birthday. As part of the kick-off, he will also release a video message.
With a campaign expected to rely heavily on town halls and retail appearances, Mr Pence hopes to build his public profile and acceptance as his aspiration pits him against his boss-turned-opponent, Donald Trump.
Mr Pence served in Congress and as Indiana’s governor before he was chosen as Mr Trump’s running mate in 2016.
He was regarded as a loyal vice-president until he fell out with Mr Trump because of disagreements over the 2020 presidential poll.
