Former Governor of Kogi, Captain Idris Wada, on Wednesday welcomed the All Progressives Congress Party (APC) candidate for the 2023 Kogi gubernatorial election, Ahmed Usman Ododo to his residence in Abuja.
Captain Wada, who served as governor from 2011 to 2015, offered prayers for Ododo’s success in the upcoming November polls, noting that his interest was for a peaceful and progressive Kogi State.
During the prayers, Captain Wada reminded Ododo that it is “ultimately God who grants power to whomever He wishes”.
Captain Wada while congratulating Ododo for winning the primary election to emerge APC flagbearer also stressed the importance of peaceful elections, stating that such an environment is necessary for peace and development.
He assured the APC candidate of prayers and support ahead of the November polls in the state.
Earlier, Ododo Ahmed Usman thanked Captain Wada for his warm reception and hospitality.
In a related development, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, had also on Wednesday received Ododo at the party Secretariat in Abuja.
Ododo, in company of Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, was warmly welcomed by the party Chairman; the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onogwu Muhammed reported.
Sen. Adamu congratulated Ododo and expressed his delight at the party’s prospects for success in the November 2023 gubernatorial election in Kogi State.
In his response, the APC gubernatorial candidate, Ododo, promised not to disappoint the party and the people of Kogi state.
He stated that he would build on the legacy and achievements of the current administration of Yahaya Bello when elected.
