Operatives of the Kogi State Police Command have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a 90-year-old woman, Mrs. Juliana Joel, in Ogori, Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of the state.
The victim was found dead in her residence on Tuesday, under circumstances yet to be determined by the police.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, ASP Afusat Oiyza Salihu, stated that the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lokoja for questioning.
“I can only confirm that a suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lokoja, for further investigation regarding a case that concerns the death of a 90-year-old woman, Mrs Juliana Joel, in Ogori,” Salihu said.
The police spokesperson added that the identity of the suspect and details surrounding the death would be made public upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
The police command has not disclosed the motive behind the incident, noting that no formal charges have been established against the suspect pending investigation outcomes.
