Youths under the aegis of the Okun Youth Alliance (OYA) Movement on Saturday gathered in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for second terms in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event, tagged the “OYA 2027 Election Endorsement Rally,” was held at the 1,500-capacity GYB Civic Centre in Isanlu.
Speaking at the rally, the Convener of the OYA Movement, Hon. Oladele John Nihi, stated that the group’s endorsement of President Tinubu was based on federal appointments and infrastructure projects directed toward Okunland and Kogi State.
“Our endorsement of President Tinubu is informed by the administration’s strategic interventions in Kogi State, particularly within the Okun axis,” Nihi said.
He cited the appointments of Okun indigenes to federal positions, including the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Ajaokuta Steel Company.
Nihi also announced the group’s support for Governor Ododo’s continuation in office, citing his performance across the state’s three senatorial districts.
“We are firmly focused on continuity. Sustained leadership at both the state and federal levels is essential to ensure ongoing projects and policies are fully realized,” he added.
He urged youths across Okunland to remain engaged in the political process beyond election cycles.
The rally featured solidarity messages from youth representatives and community stakeholders from across the region.
