Troops of 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have rescued a kidnap victim during a patrol operation in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Security analyst and publisher, Zagazola Makama reports that the rescue was carried out at about 2:07 p.m. on April 10 by troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Egbe.

Sources said the troops, while on patrol within the general area of Aaru Cashew Plantation, located the victim who had been abandoned by his captors.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the victim was abducted on April 1 at Ejiba Community in the same local government area.

He further disclosed that the kidnappers fled and abandoned him upon sighting troops advancing towards the Dadi Kowa general area.

The victim was subsequently debriefed and safely reunited with his family.

In another joint operation with personnel of the Nigeria Police and local vigilante groups, troops have destroyed suspected criminal hideouts and apprehended a suspect during an offensive operation in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi.

Sources report that the operation was conducted at about 7:00 a.m. on April 10 in Akpagogo Forest under the Joint Task Force (JTF) Omala.

Sources said the troops, while combing the forest, apprehended a civilian alleged to have violated established grazing guidelines within the area.

Further exploitation of the forest by the joint forces led to the destruction of suspected criminal camps believed to have been used as hideouts by criminal elements.

The apprehended suspect has been handed over to the Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Abejukolo for further investigation and necessary action.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to deny criminal elements safe havens and enhance security across Kogi State.
