The Controller General of Federal Fire Service, Olumode Adeyemi on Tuesday clarified the reasons why his homecoming ceremony trip to Kogi State had a long convoy.
The Fire Boss had gone to his Kabba hometown in the state, and the video of his trip showing a long convoy of Fire Service vehicles, sparked debate among Nigerians, most of which criticized an ostentatious display by a public servant.
However, reacting to what he described as misconceptions, CG Olumode explained that majority of the vehicles were management of the Fire Service who traveled with him to grace his homecoming reception ceremony in Kogi.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the service, DCF, P. ON Abraham, the CG only traveled with his official vehicle, a pilot vehicle and essential security support.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Controller General travelled with only his official vehicle, a pilot vehicle, and essential security support. The additional vehicles seen were those of Deputy Controllers General (DCGs), Assistant Controllers General (ACGs), and other senior officers of the Service who attended the event.
“Their presence formed part of the Service’s management team, and the decision for them to attend alongside the Controller General was deliberate, ensuring adequate coordination and security coverage for all senior officers at the high-profile gathering,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Olumode has appreciated the Bunu Progressive Forum for the elaborate homecoming ceremony, and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for gracing the event.
“Special appreciation is extended to the revered traditional ruler, the Obaro of Kabba, His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, for his royal blessings and fatherly support. The Controller General further appreciates the presence of the National Deputy Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, alongside other eminent personalities.
“The Controller General also acknowledges and appreciates the presence of respected traditional rulers from across Kogi State, including the Elulu of Mopa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, and the Maigari of Lokoja, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi, among others, whose presence added great prestige and cultural significance to the occasion.”
