The outgoing Deputy-Governor of Kogi State, Edward Onoja has penned his last message to the people of the state as he leaves government alongside his principal, Yahaya Bello.
Onoja, popularly regarded as the siamese twin of Governor Bello, was the pioneer Chief of Staff in the first tenure, and rose to become Deputy Governor after Simon Achuba was impeached.
ebirareporters.com recalls that Edward Onoja nursed the ambition to succeed Yahaya Bello, but lost out at the primary election that produced Ahmed Usman Ododo as the flagbearer of the his party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
In his last address shared on Facebook, Onoja thanked Kogites for the privilege to serve, and the support given him.
He wrote:
“Dear Kogites,
“With all gratitude, I address you for the last time today as your Deputy Governor. It has been a privilege of a lifetime to have served you for the last four years. The remarkable journey has had a lasting impact on my life and I want to thank you for the opportunity and experience.
“Those who have had the privilege of serving our dear State in different capacities owe their successes, prayers and support to you all, I urge you to extend the same to the new Administration of His Excellencies Alhaji Usman Ododo and Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo to ensure they succeed.
“I reserve special thanks to you all for your support, compassion and understanding, I am eternally grateful.
“God Bless Kogi State.
God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
