The Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, Alh. Muhammad Dan’Asabe Muhammad has imposed a 10pm curfew on commercial tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep.
Muhammad also ordered the arrest of commercial motorcycle operators carrying more than one passengers in the night.
The Chairman issued the directive following an extraordinary security meeting in Lokoja, the state capital.
The council boss explained that the ban became necessary to checkmate security challenges in the local government area.
He assured resident of his commitment to make Lokoja secured at all times.
He charged security agencies to do all in their power to stamp out cultism and other crimes in the Local government.
Meanwhile, the council chairman has also unveiled identification jackets for commercial tricycle and motorcycle operators in the local government area, and charged leadership of the two unions to be more proactive in the discharge of their duties.
He warned that he will hold union leaders responsible for any violation of the directives by their members.
