A female entrepreneur from Kogi State, Ahmed Safiyah has launched her tomato brand, “Sophie Tomato” into Nigeria’s food market.
Safiyah who is the Chief Executive Officer of Sophie Foods Nigeria Limited, unveiled the dehydrated tomato powder as an addition to her other food products already in the market.
Sharing the news on Facebook with great delight, the farmer disclosed the inspiration behind the tomato brand.
“Sometime in 2015, as a new mother with my new born strapped on my chest as I tow the market in Kura (a farmgate) LG in Kano State on an Extension visit training, on sighting the amount of tomatoes going to waste after the days market, my curiosity got wild and there and then the idea of SOPHIE DEHYDRATED TOMATO POWDER was borne; to cushion/mitigate the effects of post-harvest loss in the tomato value chain due to its short shelf life.
“Over the years we have carefully taken every detail into account and invested heavily on Research and Product Development and today we have an MVP officially approved by NAFDAC.
“Sophie Dehydrated Tomato Powder is prepared under strict hygienic conditions with its nutrients in tact with nil chemical additives to ensure healthy living and serve your nutritional needs.
