Governor Yahaya Bello on Thursday ordered the freezing of all Kogi state and local government accounts with immediate effect.
The state Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Asiru Idris conveyed the instruction via a circular KG/MFBP/ADM/8/VOL.II/10.
The instruction ordered a stop to imprest and all other forms of payment from government account.
“All standing orders and instructions are hereby canceled forthwith. All Kogi State and Local Government Accounts are hereby frozen with effects from today, Thursday 23rd November 2023,” the letter read.
Whilst the tenure of the chairmen of local government areas terminate in December, Governor Yahaya Bello prepares to handover to his successor, Ahmed Usman Ododo on January 27th, 2024.
