Following the suspension of the nationwide strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Friday, October 14, 2022., the Senate of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has announced the resumption of academic activities.
The Senate announced October 24 as the date for commencement of lectures at an Emergency Meeting held earlier today at the Senate Chamber (Multipurpose Hall), Permanent Site and presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi.
According to the management, the University has officially resumed today, and now putting everything in order for lectures to commence next week.
In his address tagged “NOW THAT WE ARE BACK TO OUR BEATS,” the Vice-Chancellor used the occasion to make passionate appeal to the academic staff to put in extra efforts to their schedules to make for the time lost so that the students would not suffer unduly for the strike.
“I know, as a matter of fact that this is a daunting sacrifice that I request of you but we will need to bend-over backwards for the sake of our students,” Professor Akinwumi appealed.
The high point of the meeting was the consideration of the revised Academic Calendar which has been adopted with few adjustments to be made.
Similarly, the VC briefed distinguished members of Senate of some major policy decisions taken by the Principal Officers Committee (POC) in their weekly meetings all through the period of the strike including the relocation of the Faculty of Science from the College of Health Sciences, Adankolo Campus to the University Permanent Site which commenced on Saturday, October 15, 2022.
