National Police Day: Kogi Command Present Cheques to Bereaved Families

In commemoration of the 2026 National Police Day celebration, the Kogi State Police Command on Friday presented cheques to the families of officers who lost their lives in active service, in honour of their sacrifice and dedication to duty.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankorofi presented total sum of Six Million, Three Hundred and Three Thousand, Five Hundred and Eighty-Nine Naira, Eighty-Four Kobo (₦6,303,589.84) to eight (8) families through their next of kin.

The cheques were issued under the Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Schemes.

Speaking during the presentation, the Police Commissioner described the gesture as a demonstration of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families.

He commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, for incorporating the presentation of cheques to families of fallen heroes as part of activities marking the National Police Day, noting that it reflects the leadership’s deep concern for the welfare of officers and their loved ones.

He further emphasized that the sacrifices of fallen officers will never be forgotten and assured that the Force will continue to support their families.

The Commissioner further urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds while reiterating the Command’s commitment to the welfare of serving officers.

He also reassured officers and men of its continued dedication to their welfare and remains committed to upholding the legacy of fallen heroes through service, integrity, and professionalism.
