A Catholic priest at the St. Paul’s Catholic Parish, Agaliga-Efabo in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, Rev. Fr. Wilfred Ezemba, was reportedly abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Saturday.
The incident happened along the Imane-Ogugu Road in Imane.
The clergyman was said to have been abducted alongside other commuters when their vehicle was flagged down by the gunmen, who then whisked them to an unknown location in the bush.
According to the report from the area, the incident has thrown the residents and the catholic community into confusion, as his abductors have not contacted the family or members of the community, days after his abduction.
“We are confused because, since his abduction three days ago, his abductors have not made any contact to demand a ransom.
“But we are, however, confident that Almighty God will deliver him safely from the grip of the kidnappers,” said a Catholic priest in the community who simply wants to be identified as Fr. Michael.
The Kogi State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP William Aya, promised to confirm the incident and get back to our reporter.
“I will find out from our men in the area shortly and get back to you,” said Aya.
He did not respond to further calls as at the time of filing this report.
