The Nigerian Senate has lambasted suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for acting out of order attempting to force herself into the National Assembly, stating that she only went there to make contents for media patronage.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had on Tuesday afternoon matched with some of her supporters to the gates of the National Assembly complex in her attempts to resume office, but they were denied entry by the securities.
She eventually turned back after granting press interviews, noting her next line of actions to wait out her suspension.
Reacting to her outing, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Senate said it was one of the episodes of content creation her colleague has been known for.
The Senate also reiterated its stand that the court judgement never ordered her reinstatement, adding that the only order in the Certified True Copy of the judgment, was the one which directed Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to apologize to the court and pay a five million naira fine over contempt.
“The National Assembly at large has lots of roles to play and a lot to do. We are legislators and lawmakers. We are not spectators to be watching skit making and content creation.
“All these saga is all about content creation, I think the content has been created and it is now maybe degenerating into season film. We are not interested in all these kinds of things,” he said.
He said it was the duty of the court authorized persons to enforce a judgment or court order, and not the litigant.
He said the Senate was unbothered but more concerned about constitutional amendment, electoral reforms and other national issues to handle before election year.
