{"id":7622,"date":"2023-06-17T19:03:11","date_gmt":"2023-06-17T18:03:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=7622"},"modified":"2023-06-17T19:03:11","modified_gmt":"2023-06-17T18:03:11","slug":"nma-doctors-in-kogi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/nma-doctors-in-kogi\/","title":{"rendered":"NMA Decries Shortage of Doctors in Kogi, Poor Welfare Package"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Kogi chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), has decried the shortage of qualified medical doctors in secondary and tertiary health institutions and the poor welfare package for doctors in the state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The association also decried the delay in the payment of monthly salaries of doctors of the state\u2019s Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, and Prince Abubakar Audu Teaching Hospital, Anyigba.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This was contained in Communiqu\u00e9 issued by the association at the end of its Ordinary General Meeting (OGM), with the theme, \u201cRetire Early, Retire Ready\u201d, on Saturday in Lokoja.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The communique was jointly signed by Dr Baoku Olusola and Dr Emmanuel Kelvin, its Chairman and Secretary, respectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe are dismayed by the human resource and manpower gaps in various health institutions at all levels in Kogi state; this is not a good omen for the health sector in the state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cWe are urging the state government to recruit more qualified doctors, to fill up available gaps in various health institutions in the state and ensure regular payments of salaries of doctors and other health workers in a specialist hospital, Lokoja and Prince Abubakar Audu Teaching Hospital, Anyigba.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe appeal to the governor of the state to approve and implement various welfare packages for doctors in the state, including but not limited to the new hazard allowance,\u201dNMA appealed<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The association, however, commended Gov.
