{"id":7187,"date":"2023-05-25T09:43:18","date_gmt":"2023-05-25T08:43:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=7187"},"modified":"2023-05-25T09:43:18","modified_gmt":"2023-05-25T08:43:18","slug":"renewed-attack-on-kogi-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/renewed-attack-on-kogi-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Many Houses Burnt in Renewed Attack on Kogi Community\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Several houses have been burnt down in a renewed attack on Bagana community in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This followed barely a week after gunmen killed a middle-aged man, known as Daddy Noah in the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to an eye-witness, the town has again come under a heavily coordinated attack which resulted in burning down of houses, while scores of residents who were caught in the web were feared dead.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was gathered that the latest attack on Bagana occurred on Tuesday, when stakeholders in the community were interfacing with the members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/2023\/05\/13\/attah-igala-usman-ododo\/\">Attah Igala<\/a>, HRM Matthew Opaluwa Oguche-Akpa\u2019s peace committee set up to resolve the lingering crises.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They lamented that the recent attack had rendered most families homeless as most of the remaining houses which were spared during the previous attacks were razed down.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking, a victim, Mallam Yabagi, popularly known as Teacher, whose house was completely razed down condemned the latest attack which has rendered him homeless.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said the crisis has brought the one-time boisterous town to its knees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, while confirming the attack said the incident was between two warring clans of Ihankpe and Otutubatu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said no fatalities have been recorded yet, while assuring the residents of their safety as the law enforcement agencies are working round the clock to bring the carnage under control.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Several houses have been burnt down in a renewed attack on Bagana community in Omala Local Government Area&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[1667,866],"class_list":{"0":"post-7187","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-news","7":"tag-bagana-kogi","8":"tag-omala"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.1 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Many Houses Burnt in Renewed Attack on Kogi Community\u00a0 - Ebira Reporters<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Several houses have been burnt down in a renewed attack on Bagana community in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.
