{"id":6751,"date":"2023-05-10T18:14:16","date_gmt":"2023-05-10T17:14:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=6751"},"modified":"2023-05-10T18:14:16","modified_gmt":"2023-05-10T17:14:16","slug":"cholera-outbreak-in-zimbabwe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/cholera-outbreak-in-zimbabwe\/","title":{"rendered":"Fresh Cholera Outbreak in Zimbabwe, 215 Cases Recorded\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">No fewer than 215 laboratory-confirmed cholera cases have been recorded in Zimbabwe, the Ministry of Health and Child Care confirmed on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The latest outbreak of the disease began on February 12.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ministry said all the country\u2019s 10 provinces were affected, but there was no epidemiological link to each other.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAs of May 9, a cumulative total of 766 suspected cholera cases, five laboratory-confirmed deaths, 16 suspected cholera deaths, and 215 laboratory-confirmed cases were reported,\u201d the ministry said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Monica Mutsvangwa, Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, stated this at a post-cabinet meeting media briefing on Tuesday in Harare.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said the government would avail funds to bolster the country\u2019s response to the outbreak.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCabinet assures the nation that the cholera risk assessment, which should guide the application of the oral cholera vaccination, has been completed across the country\u2019s 10 provinces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cActive surveillance of points of entry and exit is continuing as part of a multi-sectoral approach in the response to the cholera outbreak.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">(Xinhua\/NAN)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"No fewer than 215 laboratory-confirmed cholera cases have been recorded in Zimbabwe, the Ministry of Health and Child&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[184,742],"tags":[1462,1463,424],"class_list":{"0":"post-6751","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-health","7":"category-international","8":"tag-cholera-outbreak","9":"tag-monica-mutsvangwa","10":"tag-zimbabwe"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.1 -
