{"id":6601,"date":"2023-05-03T12:14:38","date_gmt":"2023-05-03T11:14:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=6601"},"modified":"2023-05-03T12:14:38","modified_gmt":"2023-05-03T11:14:38","slug":"reps-fg-ajaokuta-itakpe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/reps-fg-ajaokuta-itakpe\/","title":{"rendered":"Reps Tell FG to Suspend Concessioning of Ajaokuta, Itakpe Coys"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The House of Representatives Tuesday asked the Federal Government to suspend the ongoing process for the concession of the <a href=\"http:\/\/ascl.minesandsteel.com\/\">Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited<\/a> and the National Iron Ore Mining Company for stakeholders\u2019 consultations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The House adopted a motion by Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims and summoned the Minister of Mines and Steel Development for an explanation on the details of the concession process.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Halims had said the eleventh-hour request for the<a href=\"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/2023\/05\/02\/group-tasks-efcc-icpc-to-investigate-concession-of-ajaokuta-steel\/\"> concession of the two companies<\/a> at the twilight of the current administration, having left less than 30 days to the end of an eight-year tenure seemed to be \u201cself-serving, unpatriotic and not of national interest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He called for a robust stakeholders\u2019 consultation, proper procurement and due diligence in the concession deals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The House of Representatives, therefore, mandated its committee on steel to investigate allegations of noncompliance with due diligence procedures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The House of Representatives Tuesday asked the Federal Government to suspend the ongoing process for the concession of&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[65,1364,205],"class_list":{"0":"post-6601","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-news","7":"tag-ajaokuta-steel-company","8":"tag-house-of-reps","9":"tag-itakpe"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.1 -
