{"id":6267,"date":"2023-04-11T14:31:38","date_gmt":"2023-04-11T13:31:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=6267"},"modified":"2023-04-11T14:31:38","modified_gmt":"2023-04-11T13:31:38","slug":"dino-melaye-nyesom-wike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/dino-melaye-nyesom-wike\/","title":{"rendered":"Dino Doesn&#8217;t Have What It Takes to Govern Kogi State &#8211; Wike\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has rubbished Senator Dino Melaye\u2019s alleged governorship ambition, saying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain does not possess the qualities to run for Kogi State governorship seat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wike stated this at live media chat with selected journalists in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He stated, \u201cWhy would Kogi people say they would vote for a candidate like Dino? Are we joking?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhen you give Dino that ticket, you know he won\u2019t win in Kogi State,\u201d Wike said during the parley.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Wike, the mere fact that someone is from a place does not equate to electoral success if such a person contests an election.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cDino does not have what it takes [to be a governor] for crying out loud,\u201d Wike maintained.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHe knows me very well. He does not have what it takes to be a governor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wike added that if the PDP gives the ticket to Melaye, the party is doomed to lose the exercise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said, \u201cDoes it mean now that if the PDP wants to win the election, it would give the ticket to Dino and you say tomorrow that you were rigged when you have already killed yourself?\u201d he wondered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAre we saying that we want to win an election or just have a candidate?\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The governor said he won\u2019t campaign for the PDP if the party gives its governorship ticket to the former Kogi lawmaker.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When asked if he would campaign for the main opposition party if Dino wins the ticket, Wike said, \u201cDo you need to ask me that kind of question? Are you not aware that I would not do that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Accusing the PDP leadership of trying to \u201cmanipulate\u201d the process in favour of Melaye, Wike said, \u201cWhy are you trying to manipulate this in favour of one aspirant?\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&nbsp;
