The late paramount ruler of the Igala kingdom in Kogi State, has been announced as one of the 42 Royal Fathers appointed for universities by the Federal Government.<\/p>\n
Recall that HRH Michael Ameh Oboni II passed on barely a year ago, and the Kingdom has not been able to announce a successor.<\/p>\n
However, at a media briefing in Abuja, the Federal Government announced the Attah Igala as the appointed Chancellor of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State.<\/p>\n
Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu said \u201cMr President has, following the establishment of additional Universities, approved the appointment and\/or reassignment of Chancellors to forty-two (42) Federal Universities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe exercise is intended to also replace deceased Chancellors of some Federal Universities.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs Royal Fathers, these Chancellors are expected to be the moral compass of the various universities to which they are assigned.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey have been taken from their kingdoms and primary constituencies to other kingdoms and these appointments are expected to play a role in cementing relationships between communities in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me reiterate that the Chancellors shall be presented to the University Community at an investiture ceremony to be organized by the university for the purpose; or during the next convocation ceremony when the investiture will precede the conferment of degrees at the convocation.\u201d<\/p>\n
