{"id":5623,"date":"2023-01-21T23:57:04","date_gmt":"2023-01-21T22:57:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=5623"},"modified":"2023-01-21T23:57:04","modified_gmt":"2023-01-21T22:57:04","slug":"my-husband-flogged-me-with-stick-belt-kogi-woman-tells-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/my-husband-flogged-me-with-stick-belt-kogi-woman-tells-court\/","title":{"rendered":"My Husband Flogged Me With Stick, Belt, Kogi Woman Tells Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A divorce-seeking Kogi woman, Sadinatu Adamu, has told a Mararaba Upper Area Court, Nasarawa State that her husband, Yakubu Abdulmajid said she was a burden to him.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Sadinatu in her divorce petition accused Yakubu of battery and maltreatment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cMy marriage brought me no peace and joy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI married Yakubu in April, 2017 according to Islamic Laws and Customs of <a href=\"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/2022\/10\/26\/court-orders-kogi-govt-from-shutting-down-dangote-companies-in-obajana-ankpa\/\">Ankpa<\/a> in Kogi and we have two children.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cMy husband beats and humiliates me at the slightest provocation. I cannot take it any longer. I am afraid that one day he will kill me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHe refers to me as a burden,\u201dshe told the court.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She alleged that he flogged her with sticks and his waist\u00a0belt.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI told my husband\u2019s family, but they could not prevail on him to change.
