{"id":5559,"date":"2023-01-14T14:44:42","date_gmt":"2023-01-14T13:44:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=5559"},"modified":"2023-01-14T14:44:42","modified_gmt":"2023-01-14T13:44:42","slug":"kogi-man-tells-court-how-brothers-corpse-was-found-in-storage-drum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/kogi-man-tells-court-how-brothers-corpse-was-found-in-storage-drum\/","title":{"rendered":"Kogi: Man Tells Court How Brother\u2019s Corpse was Found in Storage Drum\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_5560\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5560\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5560\" src=\"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Man-in-a-courtroom-750x375-1-300x150.webp\" alt=\"Kogi Man Tells Court How \" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5560\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">File photo of man in courtroom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prosecution Witness (PW), Taiye Ajayi, told an Ajaokuta High Court sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State that the corpse of his alleged murdered 56-year-old brother, Kehinde Ajayi, was found in a locked-up metal storage drum behind the house of his suspected killer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He stated this while being led in testimony by a prosecuting Counsel, Badama Kadiri, in a culpable Homicide case brought before Justice Hauwa Yusuf of Ajaokuta High Court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to NAN, the state ministry of justice charged Francis Julius and Abiodun Yusuf with three counts of criminal conspiracy, theft, and culpable Homicide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The suspects were accused of conspiring and murdering <a href=\"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/2022\/08\/30\/lokoja-police-arrest-man-who-killed-buried-friend-in-his-house\/\">Kehinde Ajayi<\/a> at Felele Quarters of Lokoja, Kogi State capital on July 24, 2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The police also alleged that they stole the deceased man\u2019s newly bought Toyota Sienna bus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ajayi, in his testimony, told the court that when his brother, Kehinde, was murdered, his wife raised the alarm and he immediately reported the matter to the police.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said that it was in the cause of investigation that the police arrested Julius, who confessed that he killed his brother, saying the bus was with the second accused in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt was at that point that police asked him about the whereabouts of the corpse of my brother. They said that they buried him at the back of his house.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe police then asked him to lead the way to the back of his house where the corpse was. On getting, there he showed us the place just behind his house as he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHe was then ordered to dig the corpse out and surprisingly, as he dug, what we could see was a metal storage drum well locked up buried in a hole.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cTo our amazement, he opened the drum and behold the decomposed body of my brother was in it. The police then exhumed the body, which was examined by Pathologists.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOn examining the body, the pathologists discovered that my brother\u2019s organs were intact and his skull was cracked,\u201d Ajayi said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When cross\/examined by counsel of the 1st and 2nd witnesses, Messrs A. Ebenu and Umar Ibrahim respectively, Ajayi maintained that the two accused persons allegedly conspired to commit the murder and stole his brother\u2019s bus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shortly after the cross examination, the prosecuting counsel applied for an adjournment to enable him bring in the second prosecution witness for his testimony on the case.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The two defence counsel did not oppose the application.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Justice Yusuf, however, adjourned the case until Jan. 23 for continuation of hearing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Prosecution Witness (PW), Taiye
