The Kogi State Government has mapped out plans to clamp down on cooperative societies not registered in the state.<\/p>\n

The State Commissioner of Commerce and industry, Yunusa Olofu, disclosed this in while declaring open, a two-day workshop organized by the state Directorate of Cooperative in Lokoja.<\/p>\n

Yunusa Olofu, represented by the permanent secretary, Alhaji Salifu Ameh Ojonugwa, said a situation whereby some cooperative societies operate illegally would not be condoned.<\/p>\n

According to him, strategies are already being mapped out to carry out the exercise since cooperative laws must be obeyed for a better society.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner noted that the workshop was to educate the members and officials on the need to improve the efficiency of all cooperative societies.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, the Director of Cooperatives, Alhaji Tenimu Momoh, explained that the workshop was an annual event aimed at overcoming the challenges faced by cooperative societies.<\/p>\n

Alhaji Tenimu urged participants to make good use of the opportunity the Directorate provided in the cooperators\u2019 overall interest.<\/p>\n
