{"id":4112,"date":"2022-08-28T19:26:26","date_gmt":"2022-08-28T19:26:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=4112"},"modified":"2023-05-07T15:29:05","modified_gmt":"2023-05-07T14:29:05","slug":"policemen-kidnapped-in-kogi-regain-freedom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/policemen-kidnapped-in-kogi-regain-freedom\/","title":{"rendered":"Two FIB Policemen Kidnapped in Kogi, Regain Freedom\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Having spent about a week in the hands of their captors, two police officers attached to the the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) have regained their freedom. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-8080026755787218\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8080026755787218\" data-ad-slot=\"7193833156\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The FIB is the apex intelligence gathering in the Force that provides intelligence on crime and National Security,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Their kidnap occurred barely a month after 10 policemen returning to Nasarawa State from election duty in Osun State were attacked in Kogi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The officers, Francis Yisa, and John Kefas, a superintendent of police (SP) and assistant superintendent of police (ASP) respectively, were kidnapped while on a reconnaissance mission against terrorists in Kogi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was gathered that they were among those deployed by the police to tackle the renewed attacks in the confluence state that have led to several killings and kidnappings recently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prior to their release, they spent four days in the kidnappers\u2019 den while the kidnappers reached out and made their ransom demands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following their abduction, their captors had initially demanded N50 million each for their release but later reduced the amount to N20 million each.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was however unclear if any ransom was paid at all.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, police sources, who spoke on anonymity said the policemen were found by teams of policemen from Kogi and Edo States Commands, Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and Tactical Squad (STS) deployed by the Inspector General of Police (IG), Alkali Usman to rescue them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to them, the police did not have any need to pay ransom because the abductors released them once they sighted the formidable police rescue team.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-8080026755787218\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8080026755787218\" data-ad-slot=\"7193833156\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Having spent about a week in the hands of their captors, two police officers attached to the the&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[78],"tags":[1412,34,88],"class_list":{"0":"post-4112","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-crime","7":"tag-force-intelligence-bureau","8":"tag-kogi","9":"tag-police"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.5 -
