{"id":3572,"date":"2022-07-06T18:48:33","date_gmt":"2022-07-06T18:48:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=3572"},"modified":"2023-05-16T23:00:31","modified_gmt":"2023-05-16T22:00:31","slug":"700-frsc-officers-to-man-kogi-highways-during-sallah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/700-frsc-officers-to-man-kogi-highways-during-sallah\/","title":{"rendered":"700 FRSC Officers to Man Kogi Highways during Sallah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The Federal Road Safety Corps has mobilised 700 personnel and 20 equipment to highways in Kogi State to ensure the free flow of traffic during the Sallah celebration.<\/span><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The Kogi Sector Commander, Corps Commander Stephen Dawulung, stated this on Wednesday in a statement issued in Lokoja.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cWe have deployed more than 700 FRSC Regular, Special Marshals, and Road Safety Club Members, 20 patrol vehicles, seven ambulances, and tow trucks to the roads for this special operation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cThe deployed personnel and equipment for the special operation within Kogi is to enhance hitch-free and safe travels during the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cThe broad objectives of this operation include reduction in road crashes, fatalities, injuries, prompt response to victims, sensitisation of the public, speedy removal of obstructions and enforcement on critical offences, among others,\u2019\u2019 he stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Dawulung added that the Special Patrol operation would start from Wednesday and end on July 13.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">He stated also that there would be a mega rally at the Lokoja Mega Park where motorists and the public would be sensitised on the need to share in the responsibility of road safety.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The FRSC commander wished drivers and passengers safe travels to, and from their respective destinations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">He urged drivers to be disciplined and to obey road traffic regulations by avoiding unwholesome practices that could lead to crashes and fatalities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">He listed speeding, overloading, use of phones while driving, riding motorcycles without crash helmets, non-use of seatbelts and child restraints as causes of accidents on Nigerian roads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Other causes he listed were driving under the influence of alcohol or psychoactive substances and wrongful overtaking.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">He advised commuters and the public to report crashes, obstructions or traffic jam to the nearest FRSC office or through its Situation Room numbers: 07054005754, 07054005712 08056294021\/08056295022 and the FRSC toll free number 122.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Federal Road Safety Corps has mobilised 700 personnel and 20 equipment to highways in Kogi State to&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[236,34,1350],"class_list":{"0":"post-3572","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-news","7":"tag-frsc","8":"tag-kogi","9":"tag-stephen-dawulung"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
