{"id":3531,"date":"2022-07-01T07:22:33","date_gmt":"2022-07-01T07:22:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=3531"},"modified":"2023-06-03T01:08:40","modified_gmt":"2023-06-03T00:08:40","slug":"kogi-workers-reject-planned-deduction-of-%e2%82%a63000-by-nlc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/kogi-workers-reject-planned-deduction-of-%e2%82%a63000-by-nlc\/","title":{"rendered":"Kogi Workers Reject Planned Deduction Of \u20a63000 By NLC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Kogi state civil servants have rejected plans by the organized labour to deduct \u20a63000 from their salary for the completion of the union\u2019s state secretariat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The workers made their position known to newsmen in Lokoja, describing the plan as wicked, corrupt and lack of sympathy to the plight of workers in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">They told the Onu Edoka-led Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) that any attempt to deduct their salaries after the monthly deduction of check up dues will be met with stiff resistance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Civil servants who voiced out their grievances over the illegal deduction described the union\u2019s chairman as an autocratic leader who is self centered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">They said Onuh Edoka and his cabals took decision to deduct their salaries on behalf of the Union without seeking for the concept of the members and vowed to seek justice in court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">They appealed to the state government to intervene into the situation to avoid escalation of action.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">According to the civil servants, the chairman claimed that the money deducted from their salaries will be used for the completion of the Union\u2019s building project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Meanwhile, there is check off dues (money) going into the Union\u2019s account from workers\u2019 salaries every month, but accurate account has not been given on the use of the money.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Kogi state civil servants have rejected plans by the organized labour to deduct \u20a63000 from their salary for&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[1735,34,217],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.7 -
