{"id":3423,"date":"2022-06-12T16:49:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-12T16:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=3423"},"modified":"2023-06-09T08:49:37","modified_gmt":"2023-06-09T07:49:37","slug":"over-1000-apc-members-defect-to-pdp-in-kogi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/over-1000-apc-members-defect-to-pdp-in-kogi\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 1,000 APC Members Defect to PDP in Kogi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Mass defection rocked Kogi Local Government chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) weekend as over 1,000 members of the ruling party in the state defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Announcing their defection, leader <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ebirareporters.com\">of<\/a> the defectors, Alhaji Abdullahi Isah from Gegu South, who spoke on behalf of others, said they decided to join the PDP because of the injustice meted on them by the APC leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">According to the spokesman, their decision was informed by their effort to fulfill the desire of their teeming supporters spread across the eleven wards in Kogi local government area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">\u201cWith Hon. <a href=\"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/2022\/05\/23\/kogi-2023-shaba-bode-umoru-ishiaku-yabagi-pick-pdp-tickets-for-reps-assembly\/\">Shaba Ibrahim<\/a> as the flagbearer of PDP to the House of representatives and Hon TJ Yusuf for Kogi West Senatorial District, we believe that PDP has the best team. How can we remain in a party that is undemocratic, where some few individuals in the name of GYBist turn the party we laboured to their private limited company? he asked.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">He explained that before arriving at a conclusion of leaving the APC, several efforts to resolve issues of the promise made by Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, in 2019 that Koton Karfe would present Lokoja\/Kogi Federal Constituency candidate, instead the aspirant from Kogi was legally excluded through thuggery and undemocratic method.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Isah appealed to all lovers of democracy and supporters of justice, equity and fairness in Kogi Local Government as well as other loyalists across Lokoja\/Kogi Federal Constituency to vote PDP to ensure its victory at all levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">\u201cThose in support of our leaders political ideology were deceived and treated unjustly, hence the need for us to leave the party for another political party where we feel we shall be accommodated and treated justly,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">One of the defectors, Hon. Musa Salihu, a former chieftain of APC in Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency, confirmed the defection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">He however didn\u2019t elaborate on the reason behind the decision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Welcoming the decampees, member representing Lokoja\/Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Shaba Ibrahim, assured them that the umbrella is large enough to accommodate everyone willing to join the progressive team.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">The lawmaker said the PDP would return to power come 2023, stressing that \u201cwith the current situation Nigerians find themselves under the maladministration of APC at all levels, PDP would rescue the nation when we return to power in 2023.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">In his own remarks, PDP Kogi West Senatorial candidate, Hon. TJ Yusuf, who was overwhelmed with the numbers of APC members that dumped the party, promised to provide dividends of democracy if given the mandate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">He described APC as an amalgamation of bad omens, whose aims and objectives include, insecurity, unemployment, poverty amongst many, hence need to be rejected at the poll.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">He appealed to the people of Kogi Federal Constituency to embrace PDP, which said would rescue them from the current situation in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">The numbers of APC members that dumped the party across the 11 wards include; Odaki \u2013 50, Ukwo 63, Akpasu 68 and Chikara North 40.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Others are Chikara South \u2013 222, Irenodu \u2013 67 Gegu North \u2013 74, Gegu South \u2013 244, Tawari \u2013 119, KKF South-East \u2013 185 and Girinya \u2013 366 respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Mass defection rocked Kogi Local Government chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) weekend as over 1,000 members&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[84,34,140],"class_list":{"0":"post-3423","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-news","7":"tag-apc","8":"tag-kogi","9":"tag-pdp"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
