Glo Mobile and Airtel telecom service providers have resumed operations in Kogi state two weeks after the state government sealed up their Lokoja offices over alleged N360m tax liabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Acting Executive Chairman, Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS), Alh. Sule Salihu-Enche made the disclosure in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n KGSIRS had, on March 22, sealed up the Lokoja office of Glo Mobile and that of Airtel over alleged tax liabilities of N300m and N60m respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cToday, I wish to officially inform you that KGSIRS has unsealed the offices of Glo Mobile and Airtel after the duo made some commitments to us.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe commitments made are in payment plans toward unbundling or defraying their respective tax liabilities of N360 million to us.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIn fact, Airtel has made some payments out of its N60 million tax liability already, which explains why their line came on stream on April 5, a day before that of Glo.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAs a service (KGSIRS), we are satisfied with their commitments or payment plans, which informed our unsealing of their offices which were closed down on March 22.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s our hope that they will keep to their payment plans to help cement our working relationships, for the economic growth and development of not just Kogi but Nigeria as a whole,\u201d the chairman stated.<\/span><\/p>\n The KGSIRS boss, who spoke through the service\u2019s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Murtar Mohammed, described the rift between the service and the two telecom service providers as \u201cvery unfortunate.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Salihu-Enche expressed the hope that such a hitch or hiccup would not repeat itself in the service\u2019s relationship with any firm doing business in Kogi in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Glo Mobile and Airtel telecom service providers have resumed operations in Kogi state two weeks after the state…\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[578,579,34],"class_list":{"0":"post-2803","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-news","7":"tag-airtel","8":"tag-glo","9":"tag-kogi"},"yoast_head":"\n
