{"id":2370,"date":"2022-01-30T10:40:42","date_gmt":"2022-01-30T10:40:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=2370"},"modified":"2022-01-30T10:40:42","modified_gmt":"2022-01-30T10:40:42","slug":"94-out-of-20734-graduands-made-first-class-in-six-years-kogi-varsitys-vc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/94-out-of-20734-graduands-made-first-class-in-six-years-kogi-varsitys-vc\/","title":{"rendered":"94 Out of 20,734 Graduands Made First Class in Six Years &#8211; Kogi Varsity&#8217;s VC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">&#8230;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-564\" src=\"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/KSU-300x172.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"172\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, PAAU, Prof Marietu Ohurene-Tenuche, yesterday disclosed that 94 graduands made First Class out of the six sets of 20,734 students that graduated.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Tenuche disclosed this during the university\u2019s sixth combined convocation held at the institution\u2019s auditorium in Anyigba.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">PAAU is formerly known as Kogi State University and had a name-change in honour of the Late Prince Abubakar Audu, former Governor of the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The VC said that all the institution\u2019s 48 programmes have been fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">She disclosed that 17 lecturers have been promoted to the rank of professor and while 15 others as readers (associate professor)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cWe have successfully digitalised our results and certificates and have given all our graduands Jan .31 as dateline for them to collect the correct and digitalised certificate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cToday, this university is free from cultism, sexual harassment, and financial extortion that occasioned our past.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cWe owe our caring and generous Gov. Yahaya Bello, who has been responding to our requests, including leaving 70 per cent of our IGR for us to use for running the institution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cToday several projects, including two new hostels for both male and female students, a road, sports complex, amongst others were commissioned by our governor and TETfund Chairman, Prof. Bogoro, \u201d she stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">According to her, the institution has received several donations from individuals and organisations some of which included 100 solar street lights, 100 computers, and sporting equipment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Ohurene-Tenuche enjoined the graduands to go out there in the society to do the institution proud as good ambassadors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Earlier, Governor of the state, Yahaya Bello pronounced gave the institution the freedom to utilize 100 percent of her internally generated revenue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cConsidering your prudent management of resources, I hereby announce to you the decision of my administration to leave 100 percent of your IGR to you to utilise for infrastructural development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cThis is because you have demonstrated what this institution stands for, credibility, accountability, and judicious use of resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cPrince Abubakar Audu University is what it is today because of the good leadership quality coupled with the cooperation and support of staff and students of the institution, \u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;
