The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has said he will declare his intention to contest in the 2023 presidential election after the national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress.<\/span><\/p>\n This is as he revealed that youths and women including Nigerians abroad are urging him to run for president and build on the achievement of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).<\/span><\/p>\n Bello said this while addressing journalists in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe are looking forward to the convention of our great party and by the grace of God, I will declare. But we must have a platform to run on and that is the All Progressives Congress. The party has been built solidly under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni. They have done a great job, we shall conclude the rest in our convention.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cBy the mandate and calling of Nigerians, Nigerian youths and women and people all over the world that are calling me to run and build on the achievement of President Muhammadu Buhari. I will surely answer them immediately after our convention as the case may be,\u201d Bello said as quoted by Channels Television.<\/span><\/p>\n Meanwhile, the National Convention has been scheduled for next month, February 26th.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It became official during the address of the chairperson of the Nigeria\u2019s Governors Forum, Kayode Fayemi, at the APC National Women Conference on Tuesday in Abuja.<\/span><\/p>\n While speaking on the proposed National Convention of the party, Mr Fayemi urged party leaders and members to use the convention as an opportunity to deliver more people-oriented policies and reflect on its ideals over the years.<\/span><\/p>\n The Ekiti Governor only gave a blanket date for the convention until a member of the APC interim committee, who escorted the Yobe State Governor, Mala Buni, to the event, whispered to his ears at the podium.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cOh, the chairman has already announced February 26 as the date for the National Convention,\u201d Mr Fayemi said in a manner that suggests he was not aware that the date has become official.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"..
