{"id":2274,"date":"2022-01-17T16:47:06","date_gmt":"2022-01-17T16:47:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=2274"},"modified":"2022-01-17T16:47:06","modified_gmt":"2022-01-17T16:47:06","slug":"igala-group-cries-out-over-kidnappings-killings-in-kogi-east","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/igala-group-cries-out-over-kidnappings-killings-in-kogi-east\/","title":{"rendered":"Igala Group Cries Out Over Kidnappings, Killings in Kogi East"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">By Tijani Labaran<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">An Igala socio-cultural group, the Igala Cultural Development Association has expressed concern over the worsening security situation in the East Senatorial district of Kogi State.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The association urged governor Yahaya Bello to as a matter of urgency measure out certain solutions to stem the tide of the rampaging hoodlums that have made the flank their safe haven.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The Incorporated Board of Trustees of the Igala Cultural Development Association disclosed this to Daily Trust shortly after their meeting at Rock Garden Hotel in Lokoja at the weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">In the communique signed by the chairman and secretary of the body, respectively, Dr Omakoji Simeon Oyiguh and Hon David Ina Ogu, which was made available to Daily Trust on Monday in Lokoja, the board of Trustees said the increasing incident of kidnapping and murder cases in the flank of the state is worrisome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The body, therefore, called all the people living in the nine local governments in the eastern district of the state to take interest in the security and well-being of the inhabitants of the area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The statement read in part, \u201cThe Incorporated Board of Trustees resolved to appeal to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, to deploy his usual dexterity in security matters to contain the situation in Kogi East.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Meanwhile, the BoT members have expressed profound gratitude to Governor Yahaya Bello on the appointment of Ata Igala, HRM Alaji Matthew Opaluwa Ogwuche11 to ascend the ancestral stool of his forefathers after over a century of denial.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cAppeal is hereby made to the Governor to graciously and dutifully expedite action on the presentation of the staff of office to the Atta \u2018Igala to enable him accordingly commence activities to support government actions to deal with the worsening insecurity in Kogi East Senatorial District\u201d, BoT expressed in the communique.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">It would be recalled that an oil worker with shell petroleum Development company, Ojonimi Ossai and one Adam Okpanachi, a son of APC ward chairman, Icheke ward of Omalla local government who were kidnapped recently and their abductors allegedly demanded N5m and N2m, respectively, but they were killed by their captors.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"By Tijani Labaran An Igala socio-cultural group, the Igala Cultural Development Association has expressed concern over the worsening&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[78,2],"tags":[34],"class_list":{"0":"post-2274","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-crime","7":"category-news","8":"tag-kogi"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
