{"id":2237,"date":"2022-01-13T12:26:01","date_gmt":"2022-01-13T12:26:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=2237"},"modified":"2022-01-13T12:26:01","modified_gmt":"2022-01-13T12:26:01","slug":"kogi-governor-orders-removal-of-illegal-tax-collectors-roadblocks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/kogi-governor-orders-removal-of-illegal-tax-collectors-roadblocks\/","title":{"rendered":"Kogi Governor Orders Removal of Illegal Tax Collectors&#8217; Roadblocks\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State on Thursday ordered the removal of roadblocks mounted by illegal tax collectors on Kogi roads.\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Governor Yahaya Bello was on his way to Okene for the 8th day fidau prayer of the deceased mother of his Accountant General, Jibril Momoh.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onogwu Muhammed who posted the report on Facebook, said the Governor ran into a longtraffic, alighted from his car and ordered one of his security aides to supervise the removal of the roadblock in the area after interactions with the illegal tax collectors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2238\" src=\"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/FB_IMG_1642076309802-300x175.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"175\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Governor Bello said the illegal roadblocks have caused so much hardship to the road users especially the transporters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8220;The activities of the illegal tax collectors on the road are a serious source of frustration to taxi drivers and drivers of articulated vehicles because of the high illegal charges,&#8221; he lamented.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">He, however, warned that he will not condone such practices in the state, adding that only legally constituted tax collection agencies backed by relevant statutes would be allowed to carry out their responsibilities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Some of the transport workers who were held at the roadblock said they had spent hours before the arrival of the governor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The commuters also cheered and commended the governor for his concern for the common man.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"..
