{"id":1862,"date":"2021-11-17T21:57:06","date_gmt":"2021-11-17T21:57:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=1862"},"modified":"2021-11-17T21:57:06","modified_gmt":"2021-11-17T21:57:06","slug":"kogi-can-chairman-tells-church-leaders-to-mobilize-for-next-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/kogi-can-chairman-tells-church-leaders-to-mobilize-for-next-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"Kogi CAN Chairman Tells Church Leaders to Mobilize for Next Elections\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">&#8230;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-530\" src=\"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/bishop-ibenu1-1024x576-1-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The Chairman of the Kogi State Chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Bishop John Ibenu on Tuesday urged Church leaders to mobilize Christians across the state for the participation in the next elections.\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The CAN Chairman made the call during the plenary session of CAN in Lokoja, stating the need for every eligible Christian must register and collect their Permanent Voter Card to vote in 2023.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cAnother national election period has come and 2022 is going to be campaign year. This calls for serious prayer that God will show us mercy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cAnyone who says that their votes won\u2019t count should see the example of Anambra election.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cEveryone should vote for the party of their choice. However, everyone should remember our Christian aspiration in governance in the choice of who to vote for,\u201d Ibenu said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The CAN Chairman also called federal, state and local governments to double efforts to alleviate suffering of the people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">While bemoaning the general security challenges bedeviling the nation, Bishop Ibenu noted that God has been merciful to Kogi state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cWe ask government at all levels to consider the plights of the people, return to the drawing board and propose activities that will practically alleviate the sufferings of the people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cI urge us all to intensify prayers for the government, the land and the church for unity, peace and progress. Those who truly pray will not support any form of lawlessness,\u201d said Ibenu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The CAN chairman called for sustained prayers for Kogi state, the church and government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">He commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his consistent support for the Kogi CAN.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">According to him, Governor Bello has been assisting all five blocs of CAN in the state on a monthly basis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">In an exhortation at the plenary session, Pastor Adeboye James Sunday of New Testament Christian Mission International, Lokoja, called on Christians to consciously work towards unity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">He enjoined Christians to avoid strife and other carnal manifestations, warning that without unity most goals will remain unachievable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size:
