{"id":1385,"date":"2021-09-24T14:38:38","date_gmt":"2021-09-24T14:38:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=1385"},"modified":"2021-09-24T14:38:38","modified_gmt":"2021-09-24T14:38:38","slug":"kogi-poly-demotes-lecturer-over-student-victimization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/kogi-poly-demotes-lecturer-over-student-victimization\/","title":{"rendered":"Kogi Poly Demotes Lecturer over Student Victimization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8230;promotes five others<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The Management of Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja on Tuesday demoted a former Chief Lecturer, Mr. John Edoka to the rank of Principal Lecturer over gross misconduct.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The demotion was part of the decisions reached by the Governing Council of the polytechnic at her 64th Regular Meeting led by the chairman, Professor Isa Yakubu held on Tuesday, at the Polytechnic\u2019s Council Chamber.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Edoka who is a lecturer in the Department of Public Administration was accused of student victimization, disobedience and dishonesty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">He was demoted to serve as a deterrent to others for his involvement in acts of gross misconduct, the Public Relations Officer of the institution stated in a press statement made available to Ebira Reporters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">On the bright side, the Governing Council has also approved the promotion of five lecturers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8220;Having considered the recommendations from the Appointments, Promotions and Disciplinary Committee (AP&amp;DC), Council approved the promotion of Olorunniyi Adebola Emmanuel and Ahmed Onimisi Matthew (both of the Department of Sciences, School of Preliminary Studies), Omolegbe Leah Tinuola (Department of Arts and Social Sciences, School of Preliminary Studies), Zubair Ajoze Abdulraheem ( Computer Science Department) and Audu Ozohu Omolola Muhammed ( Department of Library and Information Science) to the rank of Chief Lecturer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8220;In the same vein, the appointment of Mr Dominic O. Idakwo, a Lecturer II from the Department of Science and Laboratory Technology (SLT) was terminated for abscondment from duty since 2018 after he was granted study leave with pay.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8220;Council further resolved that, Mr Oguntunyi Oluwaseun, a Computer Technician in the Information Technology and Resource Centre (ITRC) be made to pay for the six missing laptops under his care.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8220;Council also resolved that Mr Olufemi Anthony Ajibodun of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology, be made to refund the sum of Two Million, Six hundred and nineteen thousand, nine hundred and thirty-six naira, fifteen kobo only (N2,619,936,15) he collected as part of TETFUND scholarship grant for \u201cupkeep\u201d at the University of Central Lancashire, the United Kingdom in 2012 which he did not attend.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&#8230;promotes five others The Management of Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja on Tuesday demoted a former Chief Lecturer, Mr.&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[34,138],"class_list":{"0":"post-1385","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-news","7":"tag-kogi","8":"tag-kogi-poly"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
