{"id":1299,"date":"2021-09-13T13:32:19","date_gmt":"2021-09-13T13:32:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=1299"},"modified":"2021-09-13T13:32:19","modified_gmt":"2021-09-13T13:32:19","slug":"kogi-govt-confirms-prison-break-calls-for-calm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/kogi-govt-confirms-prison-break-calls-for-calm\/","title":{"rendered":"Kogi Govt Confirms Prison Break, Calls for Calm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The Kogi State Government has confirmed that <a href=\"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/2021\/09\/13\/prison-break-gunmen-kill-soldiers-on-duty-set-prisoners-free-in-kogi\">gunmen attacked the Medium Correctional Centre in Kabba, where hundreds of inmates were reportedly set free.<\/a><\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo in a press statement on Monday also confirmed that two security operatives died in the attack.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Earlier reports indicated that <a href=\"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/2021\/09\/13\/prison-break-gunmen-kill-soldiers-on-duty-set-prisoners-free-in-kogi\">the gunmen struck on Sunday midnight through to the dawn of Monday, killing two soldiers on the highway before invading the prison to set prisoners free.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Fanwo in the statement said the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, Kogi State Commissioner of Police and the Commander, Army Records, Lokoja have visited the centre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">He assured that the gunmen would be apprehended.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8220;Security Agencies have zeroed in to ensure those who escaped are rearrested as well as trail the masterminds of the attack.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8220;We have confidence in our security agencies to unmask the masterminds responsible for the attack and get them apprehended.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8220;Our security network has led to the rearrest of majority of the inmates that escaped as some have also come back to the centre on their own.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8220;Security agencies, traditional rulers and local hunters are working in synergy to ensure normalcy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8220;We urge Kogi citizens and citizens of neighbouring states to help volunteer information that will ensure the apprehension of the masterminds of the dastardly act.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8220;Our people should go about their normal businesses as security agencies are doing their best to ensure security of lives and property in the face of the unfortunate breach.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"..
