Ododo Moves to Implement New Minimum Wage in Kogi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has commenced the process of implementing the updated national minimum wage in Kogi State.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The move by the Governor is sequel to the agreement reached by the Federal Government and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on 70,000 as the new national minimum wage of workers.<\/p>\n<p>ebirareporters.com reports that Governor Ododo on Thursday to the Trade Union Congress in the state, requesting for nominees to be included in the committee approved to review and implement the minimum wage.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter signed by the State Head of Service, Mr. Elijah Evinemi, the government gave Monday 16th September as the deadline for submission of nominees.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the issue of new minimum wage became a front burner in the country some months ago due to economic hardship facing the Nigerian populace.<\/p>\n<p>Labour had said \u20a630,000 was no longer sustainable for any worker going by the economic vagaries of inflation and high cost of living which followed the removal of petrol subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.<\/p>\n<p>NLC President, Joe Ajaero had also, confirmed that \u20a670,000 was where they were on the issue of the minimum wage.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that part of the discussion was that the minimum wage would no longer wait till after five years to be reviewed.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the agreement was that the minimum wage would now be reviewed every three years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has commenced the process of implementing the updated national minimum wage in Kogi State.\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":11514,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[21],"tags":[2606,2646,217],"class_list":{"0":"post-12237","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-businessnews","8":"tag-governor-ododo","9":"tag-kogi-minimum-wage","10":"tag-nlc"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Gov.
