The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described Senator Dino Melaye as a liability to the party<\/p>\n

PDP elders in the state led by Ibrahim Dansofo, urged the local executive committee in Ijumu to initiate immediate suspension proceedings against Melaye.<\/p>\n
This, they said, would emphasize the need to restore the party\u2019s integrity and focus on viable leadership.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, Melaye said the acting national chairman of the PDP, Iliya Damagum, Samuel Anyanwu and Umar Bature have destroyed the former ruling party.<\/p>\n
Melaye claimed that the three chieftains had irredeemably destroyed PDP.<\/p>\n
Condemning his remark, the party elders said Melaye\u2019s political ambitions have crumbled to the point where he can no longer secure a local councillor position.<\/p>\n
The Dansofo-led elders characterized Melaye as a liability, suggesting that his continued association with the party serves only to negotiate personal gain with the ruling party rather than contribute positively to the PDP.<\/p>\n
\u201cSenator Melaye has become a burden to the party.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis accusations against the current leadership are hypocritical, as he himself was granted a governorship ticket despite the party\u2019s awareness of his inability to win even a primary election,\u201d Dansofo said.<\/p>\n
The Kogi PDP placed blame for the party\u2019s current struggles squarely on Melaye\u2019s shoulders, claiming that his nomination was a significant misstep that has led to their present predicament.<\/p>\n
They further called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to reevaluate their support for Melaye, urging them to distance themselves from someone they described as a \u201cbondage\u201d and a \u201cbig-time liability\u201d for the party.<\/p>\n
They called on the Nigerian public to disregard Melaye\u2019s remarks, labelling them as the desperate words of a man whose political relevance has long since faded.<\/p>\n
