{"id":11295,"date":"2024-04-03T12:38:17","date_gmt":"2024-04-03T11:38:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/?p=11295"},"modified":"2024-04-03T12:38:17","modified_gmt":"2024-04-03T11:38:17","slug":"fmc-lokoja-ward-attendant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/fmc-lokoja-ward-attendant\/","title":{"rendered":"Negligence: Protests at FMC Lokoja over Death of Ward Attendant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Protests on Tuesday rocked the Federal Teaching Hospital (erstwhile known as FMC Lokoja) Kogi State, over the death of one of their colleagues identified as Salamatu Aliu of Post Natal Ward.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ebirareporters.com\">ebirareporters.com<\/a> learnt that the Late Salamatu was rushed to the hospital for medical attention on Sunday evening but was left unattended by doctors and nurses on duty due to a lack of electricity.<\/p>\n<p>It was further learnt that the deceased was later moved to Kogi State Specialist Hospital and died shortly after.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis negligence of doctors and nurses in the Accident and Emergency Ward here in Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja is unbecoming. This actually led to this peaceful protest to register our grievances with the hospital management, that we are not happy losing our own colleague. The management must do something to avert future occurrences. All lives matter and are equal. They should stop treating us unfairly,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailypost.ng\/2024\/04\/02\/protests-rock-federal-teaching-hospital-lokoja-over-death-of-ward-attendant\/\">Daily Post<\/a> quoted a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters were reportedly pacified to go back to work as they were assured that the issue will be thoroughly investigated.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/fmc-lokoja-as-kogi-majority-leader-negligence\/\">ebirareporters.com<\/a> recalls that the incident occurred barely two months after the Majority Leader of Kogi State House of Assembly, Abdulrazaq Suleiman accused the hospital of recurring negligence leading to the loss of lives of patients brought to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ebirareporters.com\/fmc-lokoja-as-kogi-majority-leader-negligence\/\">An uproar condemning the negligence of the Doctors, ensued at the hospital premises following the death of the lawmaker&#8217;s father-in-law.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>All attempts to speak with the hospital management proved abortive at the time of filing this report.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the legal adviser to the hospital, Enny O.
