Reports have been making the rounds that legislative activities have over a long time been grounded at the Kogi State House of Assembly complex, as the State Lawmakers are busy in preparations against the 2023 general elections.

The reports also indicated that the maze has been hidden to foil investigation into the activities of the Speaker, Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole.

Reporters who visited the assembly complex to verify the state of things, confirmed that the legislative building was under lock and key with nobody to give reasonable information about the situation of things.

A news website, reported the planned investigation was not unconnected to alleged financial misappropriation by the Speaker and other principal officers while other members of the Assembly were struggling to survive.

While the complex was locked, some Assembly members were seen at the APC Secretariat submitting their nomination forms but declined to speak with reporters.

While our reporter could not categorically place how long the complex has been abandoned, the last known major function of the Lawmakers was the passage of the 2022 Bill, and the subsequent announcement of the appointment of Mr. Ahmed Sule Chogudo as the new Clerk.

Recall that the Speaker is also seeking to represent Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency at the House of Representatives.

The Speaker who declared his intention at a ceremony in Kabba, said the massive show of love and prayers from within and outside the state when his wife passed on, inspired his zeal to serve the people in a higher position.

He said he was also motivated by the need to provide quality representation, assuring that his experience in the state assembly would help him make a difference.

While noting that he was not desperate, he urged the people to consider his aspiration based on his achievements as a state lawmaker in the last seven years.
